Teaching and Learning at NOA
At North Oxfordshire Academy we really are relentless in the pursuit of great learning. Every lesson of every day counts and we all strive to deliver memorable learning experiences. We firmly believe that outstanding learning changes lives and that outstanding learners change communities. At NOA we make no excuses, take no shortcuts and put in endless hard work into making learning the very best it can be. The ethos that sits behind our professional development cycle is based on a joint practice development approach whereby we work as a collective team to develop our practice. At the heart of a JPD model is a collective identification of what needs to be moved on in our practice. A termly approach is taken whereby we focus on one area of teaching and learning. JPD cycle is supported by lots of different support structures within NOA including the use of Teacher Learner Communities, Teach-meets, 1:1 coaching, open door teaching sessions and the Outstanding Teaching Programme. Over the past two years we have also developed a strong Teaching and Learning team who are able to provide a bespoke coaching service. We feel that the supportive nature of the JPD programme at NOA has brought us real benefits, not only for staff, but also for our students.
Ellie Jacobs - Vice Principal
I am Ellie Jacobs and I am Vice Principal at North Oxfordshire Academy overseeing Teaching and Learning. In addition to my role I am also a Specialist Leader of Education focusing on CPD. Before teaching at NOA I was an Advanced Skills Teacher (science) and provided LEA support for various schools in Oxfordshire. It is a real privilege to lead such a dedicated team of teachers and students in the pursuit of great teaching. I truly do believe that great teaching transforms lives.
To support teaching and learning at NOA we have developed a team of dedicated and experienced practitioners who provide support in lots of different forms for teachers. This team are introduced to you in the T&L team page; please take a look.
